It's Been A Long Weekend

It's been a long weekend. My oldest son just got out of the hospital today. It's always something with this kid, I tell ya. THIS time he had cellulitis. Most of the time it's a respiratory issue. The reason that made me bring him to the ER on Thursday night is I discovered what looked like a major slice on the base of his penis. It totally freaked me out. I've never seen anything like this EVER. And I didn't know what to think much less do. The bacterial infection was so bad that it was causing his skin down there to erupt in some weird way. But he is better, I hope, and is on the right antibiotics.

I don't mean to sound like "oh poor pitiful me". I'm not the one suffering. I love this child more than anything else in this world. And for all the bitching I might do about my man, I gotta give him credit for this: He has been with me for every late night/all night ER visit, every surgery, and almost every doctor appointment. My son's own FATHER wasn't that dedicated or involved.

I am absolutely riveted by CNN and the coverage of Hurricane Katrina. I can't stop watching. It's like 9/11 again. I'm disgusted and enthralled with it. I've actually been in that area a few times and it's a beautiful place. The best way for me to describe the destruction is this way: They showed an off-shore oil rig that is now sitting on the beach. That's how WINDY it was.

Movies I saw this week: Alexander. I loved this! Yeah, of course Colin Farrell is hot. The scenes where he got, let's just say a little more affectionate than ususal, with his male friends, was stangely a turn on. I had someone else tell me this first, and I thought, Yeah, right. But she was correct. And the story! How it relates to the times we live in today. Alexander tried to invade Mesopotamia, was semi-successful, but realized he had ultimately made a big mistake and had to stop. Hmmm....

Album I Listened To This Week: I made a mix CD of my favorite beatles songs. Highlights: A Day In The Life. Drive My Car. All My Lovin. Twist And Shout. With A Little Help From My Friends. Norwegian Wood. I could go on and list all twenty tracks, but when you haven't heard these in awhile and you go back and revisit them, it's like falling in love all over again. I love music, all kinds in fact, but listening to this gave me such great pleasure!

Book I've Read: Still at the Bill Clinton book. Still diligently plugging along at it.

Top News Story: Of course, the hurricane. I feel lucky to live where I live. I feel fortunate that I have a roof over my head and a dry street beyond my front door.
